About This Course

When a medical emergency happens, your first actions can make a critical difference. This awareness-level course is designed to help learners develop the confidence to act quickly, responsibly, and safely in a variety of emergency scenarios. Through practical guidance, interactive activities, and real-world examples, the course empowers participants to better understand how to recognize a medical emergency, protect themselves and others, and respond with effective first aid techniques.

Participants will learn how to prepare for emergencies by stocking a proper first aid kit, identifying potential hazards in different environments, and understanding their rights and legal protections under Good Samaritan laws. The course emphasizes critical thinking, situational judgment, and safety awareness—covering key topics such as hazard checks, scene safety, infection control, and the correct use of personal protective equipment. It also explores the importance of obtaining consent before offering aid, how to assess the severity of a situation, and what to do if a victim is non-responsive or if multiple casualties are present. Learners will gain an understanding of how to perform a primary assessment, when and how to call emergency medical services, how to identify life-threatening conditions involving airway, breathing, or circulation, and how to respond effectively using CPR, AEDs, and other basic interventions such as choking response, bleeding control, and managing seizures, allergic reactions, or strokes.

Please Note: This course is for informational and awareness purposes only. It does not include hands-on practice or skills evaluation. For official certification needs, learners should seek a certified first aid program through recognized providers.
