About This Course

Landscaping work brings real-world hazards: moving equipment, sharp tools, awkward lifts, extreme weather, wildfire smoke, pests, poisonous plants, and unpredictable sites open to the public. This course provides clear, practical guidance to help you plan the work, select the right PPE, and protect yourself, your crew, other people in the area, and property.

You’ll learn safe practices for heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools; how to store gear securely; and how to apply ergonomics to reduce strain, prevent vibration injuries, and lift safely. The course covers heat and cold stress, air quality and smoke, storms, wind, and lightning, along with pests, animal-borne disease, pesticides, hazardous plants, and waste. Finally, you’ll review working-alone considerations and core first aid and emergency response steps for cuts, stings, exposures, and utility contacts. Finish with the confidence to recognize hazards, control risks, and make sound decisions on every outdoor job.

Whether you're looking for Confined Space Entry, Firefighting, Ground Disturbance, Fall Protection, Safe Slinging and Rigging, First Aid, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, Wilderness Awareness, or many other safety courses, you will likely find them in our Online Course Library.

Is there a time limit for online courses?

Everyone learns at a different pace and everyone retains information differently. When you take a course online, you go at your own speed. If you get to a certain point and don’t fully understand the material, you can pause and go back for a review. On the other hand, if everything makes perfect sense, you can go straight through the entire course right to the test.

How does virtual proctoring/testing with webcam monitoring work?

When you start your test, you will be monitored via your webcam. If you disappear from the screen or appear to be consulting another device or other material, you will be disqualified from the course. The company responsible for virtual proctoring is Integrity Advocate. You can find out more about how their system works here.
