About This Course
A smoldering fire can transform into a fast-moving inferno in as little as 30 seconds, which is why a designated Fire Watch is so important. A Fire Watch is an individual responsible for protecting everyone on a worksite from fires, and is often deployed to supervise hot work activities or any task that produces heat, sparks, or flames. Serving as a Fire Watch requires you to know how fires are produced, how they can be prevented, and what procedures reduce loss of equipment or personnel. This course will walk you through that information.
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Outline the roles and responsibilities of a Fire Watch
- Explain how fires are produced
- Identify the common types of fires
- Describe the differences between types of fire extinguishers
- Describe the basic procedures of a fire incident,
- Understand the importance of permits relating to hot work and Fire Watch
