Chainsaw Safety (OSHA)
Chainsaws are powerful, versatile tools that make demanding cutting work faster and easier, whether the job involves clearing brush, bucking logs, or felling trees. But when safe practices are ignored, when PPE is skipped, or when maintenance falls behind, these same tools cause tens of thousands of serious injuries every year, including lacerations and amputations. That is why proper training matters before anyone picks up a chainsaw on the job. This awareness-level course walks learners through the different types of chainsaws, their components and maintenance, required OSHA PPE, safe starting and handling procedures, kickback prevention, and first aid preparedness for chainsaw-related emergencies.

What You'll Learn
- Types of chainsaws (manual, battery-powered, corded-electric, gas-powered, pole, and pneumatic)
- Chainsaw anatomy and key components
- Pre-shift inspection requirements
- Daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance
- Basic safety rules for chainsaw operation
- Required PPE under OSHA standards
- Safe starting and fueling procedures

This awareness-level course covers chainsaw types, components, maintenance, safe operating practices, and the OSHA requirements that apply to chainsaw work.
